Acer to Increase U.S. PC Prices by 10% Following Trump's Tariffs

Acer's CEO confirms planned price adjustments due to new tariffs that will impact U.S. consumers.

Acer plans to raise the prices of its PCs in the United States by 10% in response to new tariffs introduced by the Trump administration.

Basic economics strikes again.

President Trump has made waves since taking office, especially regarding trade policies with China, including a 10% tariff on imported goods. This could significantly affect U.S. buyers, as explained by Acer’s CEO, Jason Chen, who stated:

“We will have to adjust the end user price to reflect the tariff. We think a 10 percent probably will be the default price increase because of the import tax. It’s very straightforward.”

In light of these developments, Acer is also considering relocating some of its manufacturing processes, which could lead to further price adjustments in the future. As various hardware manufacturers explore ways to mitigate costs, the imminent price increase underscores how geopolitical issues are directly affecting the tech industry.

For consumers, this may signal a rush to purchase needed hardware before prices climb further amid ongoing uncertainties in trade policies.
