Marvel Rivals Player Creates Their Own Vanguard Character Due to Lack of Options
A player has taken the initiative to design a new Vanguard character for Marvel Rivals amid a perceived shortage of available options.

Despite NetEase’s commitment to releasing new heroes every season for Marvel Rivals, players feel the roster is lacking in Vanguards compared to Duelists and Strategists. To address this, one player, Wickedcube, asserted, “We need more Vanguards, so I made one”, creating a character concept for Doctor Octopus.
The character concept includes a detailed video explainer showcasing how Doctor Octopus would use his tentacles for mobility and combat.
Abilities:
- Havoc Claw: Attacks enemies with tentacles.
- Wrecking Grip: Throws debris at opponents.
- Cephalopod Dash: Boosted movement speed.
- Tentacle Aegis: Temporary shield using tentacles.
- Ultimate Move - Wrath of the Master: Grabs and slams enemies repeatedly.
Although the design is promising, it’s uncertain if Doctor Octopus will be added to the game, especially since the developers are currently focusing on addressing existing issues rather than introducing new heroes.
