Sony Defends Termination of Former Destiny 2 Director Amid Lawsuit

Sony responds to Christopher Barrett's wrongful dismissal lawsuit, providing evidence of alleged misconduct and denying the validity of his claims.

Sony has filed a response to Christopher Barrett, the ex-director of Destiny 2, who sued the company for wrongful termination in December 2024. Barrett asserts he was dismissed unfairly to avoid paying the remaining $45.5 million on his contract.

In its defense, Sony claims Barrett’s dismissal was justified and the lawsuit is without merits. They included statements and texts purportedly from Barrett that indicate a pattern of inappropriate behavior, such as drunken calls and engaging in sexually charged conversations.

Despite Barrett’s assertions of his integrity, Sony’s filings allege he pressured female coworkers and violated their boundaries repeatedly. Barrett contends that he is being misrepresented, stating that his communication was misinterpreted and his termination was a ruse to deny him payment.

Sony intends to seek dismissal of the lawsuit and has alleged costs linked to the case that they plan to recover.
