In a surprising move, Bethesda has chosen not to confirm the existence of a remaster for Oblivion, leaving fans distraught. This decision has spurred a community of game developers to create the Wheeljam—a week-long game jam dedicated to exploring the unique persuasion mechanics introduced in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
In Oblivion, players engaged NPCs by navigating a quirky minigame that involved Admiring, Joking, Coercing, and Boasting in an attempt to build rapport. The game jam encourages developers to create new games that incorporate these mechanics in innovative ways.
Wheeljam will take place from March 13 to March 20, aptly coinciding with the 19th anniversary of Oblivion. All submissions will be evaluated by the event hosts, with winners receiving a coveted prize—a 3D-printed version of the game’s persuasion wheel.
While the remaster remains a dream, the community’s creative spirit shines through in this initiative, proving that the legacy of Oblivion continues to inspire new generations of gamers and developers alike.
