I’m not immune to an unsubtle display of the very best tropes one genre has to offer all in one place. This is why I’m sharing my thoughts: the trailer for Mecharashi is exactly what I want from a mech game trailer, and I absolutely love it.

The trailer boasts haunting music that accompanies the visual of massive fighting machines in a devastated landscape. We see intricate technical interfaces being activated, giant robots wielding machine guns, and a damaged mech recovering for one last stand. The narrative suggests that this entire experience is both deeply intense and thrilling for the pilots.

Scheduled for release this year, Mecharashi is a tactical turn-based RPG focused on mecha battles. Players will construct their mechs with various equipment and navigate through conflicts that will alter their mercenary unit’s place in history. However, expect to encounter microtransactions within the game.

The gameplay draws inspiration from classic mecha series such as Front Mission, where every part of a mech has unique hit points. Players must decide if they can take down an enemy by disabling key components or simply avoiding it altogether.

Screenshots along with the cinematic trailer showcase a myriad of weaponry, ranging from mecha-sized rifles to heavy artillery and shields. As the narrative unfolds, developer BlackJack Studio aims to deliver a realistic aesthetic in the new mecha world.

“Every detail, from scene design to the mech models, is crafted in a solemn, realistic style to achieve the ultimate expression of mech aesthetics.”

Check out Mecharashi on Steam, where it’s ‘coming soon’ this year. Notably, it appears to incorporate gacha elements and premium currencies as seen on its website, which may not guarantee a good experience, but certainly makes for an intriguing trailer.
