Microsoft Addresses Windows Explorer Lag Issue with OneDrive

Microsoft finally resolves the longstanding lag problem in Windows Explorer when accessing cloud files with a new update.

Microsoft has finally tackled a frustrating issue in Windows Explorer that’s been around for ages, particularly affecting OneDrive users.

The recent update, labeled KB5052094, addresses the persistent lag that users encountered when trying to access cloud files. As many have pointed out, this lag issue appeared when attempting to use the right-click context menu on cloud files, significantly impacting the user experience.

While the update is currently only available to those on the Release Preview Channel of Windows 11, many users are hopeful for a wider rollout that will resolve this annoyance. OneDrive’s interaction lag has been a sore spot for users, making basic actions like renaming or copying tedious and drawn-out.

Microsoft’s tardiness in addressing this issue raises questions, though. Some speculate it might not have been considered a high priority, especially with Windows 11 facing multiple other performance concerns that may require more immediate attention.

In the end, this fix—while possibly minor in the grand scheme—could significantly enhance user experience for those frequently relying on OneDrive for their cloud storage needs.
