Rocket League Embraces Easy Anti-Cheat Without Neglecting Linux and Steam Deck

Psyonix is implementing Easy Anti-Cheat in Rocket League to enhance cheating prevention while ensuring compatibility with Linux and Steam Deck.

Rocket League is taking a significant step in combating cheating by introducing Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), which is expected to be in effect from April. According to Psyonix, this addition will boost their capacity to identify and ban cheaters swiftly, forming part of an extensive initiative that includes enhanced bot detection and measures against DDoS attacks.

However, players utilizing mods may encounter some challenges, as the introduction of EAC may disrupt certain modifications. Yet, Psyonix has assured that players can opt to deactivate EAC, although this will restrict their access to online matches.

“When Easy Anti-Cheat is turned off, you can run mods while playing offline matches, training, LAN matches, and viewing Replays while using custom video editing tools,” stated Psyonix.

Community content, like Steam Workshop maps, remains accessible online regardless of whether EAC is active. Additionally, Psyonix promises to embed popular mod-inspired features directly into Rocket League.

The developers announced:

  • MMR Display: An option to show Matchmaking Rating in-game.
  • Training Modifications: Changes to improve custom training environments.
  • Flip Reset Indicator: An optional feature that enhances gameplay.

Furthermore, Psyonix has committed to not hindering gameplay for users on Linux and Steam Deck, stating, “We know some of you love to play on Steam Deck and on Linux operating systems through apps like Proton, and this will still be supported with Easy Anti-Cheat on.”
