Valheim's Creative Director Remains Committed to the Game While Developing a New Co-op Dungeon Crawler
Robin Eyre, Valheim’s creative director, assures fans that their attention on the main game isn't diminished despite working on a separate project.
Developer Iron Gate Studios launched Valheim in early access five years ago, and they are now nearing the final stages. Work on the last biome and the anticipated releases on PlayStation and Switch 2 are slated for 2026, although a specific date for version 1.0 hasn’t been disclosed. Despite excited anticipation among fans, some are voicing concerns about developers split focus.
Three team members, including creative director Robin Eyre, are juggling their time between Valheim and a new independent project called Begraved, developed under their new studio Grip Jaw. Eyre reassures players that their commitment to Valheim remains unwavering. He stated, “Begraved is not in competition with Valheim; we work diligently on Valheim every day.” Eyre further expressed his passion for game development, highlighting their desire to create additional games alongside their ongoing efforts on Valheim.
Eyre humorously noted, “If I could, I would make a third game,” indicating the depth of their enthusiasm for gaming creation. Fans will be eager to see how both projects evolve in the coming years.
