Steam Machine Aims to Run Most Steam Titles at 4K 60 FPS, Some May Need More Upscaling
Valve discusses the performance of its upcoming Steam Machine, highlighting its ability to run many games at 4K resolution smoothly.
Valve has revealed exciting details about its upcoming hardware line-up, particularly focusing on the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. A notable feature mentioned is the machine’s ability to run the majority of Steam titles at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second with FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). However, the company cautions that some titles may require adjustments for optimal performance.
In a recent FAQ, Valve stated: “In our testing, the majority of Steam titles play great at 4K 60 fps with FSR enabled. That said, there are some titles that currently require more upscaling than others, and it may be more beneficial to play them at a lower framerate with VRR (variable refresh rate) to maintain a 1080p internal resolution.”
Valve is actively working on enhancements including HDMI VRR, improved upscaling methods, and optimizing ray tracing performance to offer better gaming experiences. They emphasize their multi-faceted approach to tackling these challenges as they develop the Steam Machine.
