Nioh 3 Director Discusses No Difficulty Settings in Game

Masaki Fujita, the game director of Nioh 3, explains why the series does not include difficulty settings, emphasizing skill-based progression.

The director of Nioh 3, Masaki Fujita, has asserted, “We’ve never considered adding difficulty settings to the Nioh series. The value of clearing the game is something that is unifying, and since Nioh 3 offers even more strategies to succeed compared to previous entries, our approach focuses on enhancing gameplay rather than simply adjusting difficulty settings.”

Fujita emphasizes that the sense of accomplishment and enjoyment gained from overcoming challenges independently is integral to the experience of Nioh 3. While acknowledging that Nioh is particularly challenging, he believes that the multitude of strategic options available provides players with the chance to succeed on their terms.
