GOG's Generative AI Response Draws Criticism from Fans

GOG's handling of an AI-generated banner sparks controversy among users, as the company's response is deemed unsatisfactory by many.

An AI-generated banner recently appeared on GOG, leading to criticism from users about the company’s response. Users expressed disappointment in the replies provided by GOG’s managing director, Maciej Gołębiewski, who stated:

“We’re not planning on making absolute statements in either direction… using new technology doesn’t mean skipping human judgment.”

Many fans felt that the response was inadequate, urging for a clearer stance against the use of AI in game content, with one user stating, “Absolutely terrible response. You need an absolute statement at this point.”

The controversy stems from a banner that was confirmed to be entirely AI-generated by a GOG team member, KosmicznaPluskwa. While GOG recognized the ongoing discussions around this topic, the vague answer provided did not quell the concerns of many gamers who value authentic human-created content.
