Chaos Manufacturing has unveiled SOL Shogunate, a single-player character action game described as a samurai space opera. The title, reminiscent of Stellar Blade, is set to be developed for both PC and consoles.

Chaos Manufacturing is a new studio co-founded by Guy Costantini, previously associated with CD Projekt Red as the Global Brand Director and Vice President of Marketing and Publishing at Skydance Interactive. SOL Shogunate was presented as the company’s debut title during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted on December 4, one of the late gaming events of 2025.

The game’s reveal trailer showcases a unique environment merging hard science fiction with traditional Japanese feudalism. This shogunate represents a vast empire spread across the solar system, with key scenes set on a colonized moon. The trailer features a significant wheel-shaped space station that employs artificial gravity, drawing inspiration from NASA’s Stanford torus design, but infused with Japanese cultural elements like cherry blossoms.

At its essence, SOL Shogunate narrates a story revolving around revenge, following Yuzuki, the heir of a samurai clan brutally slain by a rival faction, who now seeks to avenge her family. Players will encounter various adversaries, including both human foes and robotic entities. A notable boss battle includes a formidable robotic spider highlighted in the trailer.

Promising rich combat options, dynamic musical accompaniment, and a variety of character builds, SOL Shogunate maintains a distinctively fast-paced combat focus. The existence of a skill tree featuring both offensive and defensive enhancements is confirmed, alongside systems for weapon customization through elemental effects. Furthermore, players will navigate the lunar landscape utilizing mechanical beasts and a monocycle.

Currently, there is no announced release date for SOL Shogunate. Given the game’s development timeline—informally noted to have begun around 2023—its release might be several years away, especially as substantial game projects typically require around five years to complete.
