A Surprising Translated Discovery: An Unreleased NES Horror JRPG Comes to Life

An unreleased Nintendo Entertainment System horror game that went unnoticed for years is now fully translated and playable.

Namco nearly brought a game based on the Splatterhouse series to the NES, known as Splatterhouse: World. Despite its potential, this horror-themed JRPG didn’t make it to market. Recently, its ROM was discovered, allowing fans to experience the game in its entirety for the first time.

The game offers a nostalgic 8-bit experience, featuring ominous graveyards and turn-based combat. However, it was initially challenging to access due to its Japanese dialogues, but a fan translation is now available, making it accessible to English speakers.

For collectors and retro gaming enthusiasts, this title represents a rare glimpse into what could have been, reviving interest in a long-forgotten series.
