Epic Games Store Announces December 11 Giveaway Tied to Game Awards

The Epic Games Store is set to reveal a mystery game giveaway on December 11, coinciding with The Game Awards 2025.

The Epic Games Store plans to offer at least one mystery game on December 11. This free game will launch at a different time compared to the usual giveaways, aligning with The Game Awards 2025.

Previously, from November 27 to December 4, the Epic Games Store was distributing a dystopian point-and-click adventure titled Universe for Sale, but that offer has concluded. In its place, two new free games are now available: The Darkside Detective and The Jackbox Party Pack 4.

Returning Mystery Game Promotion for The Game Awards

As soon as the Epic Games Store’s giveaway on December 4 started, the store announced its next giveaway. This will be the return of their mystery game format, where free games remain confidential until they are ready to be claimed. Details indicate a mystery title will be available, potentially highlighting a nomination or association with the awards ceremony. It’s also plausible that additional mystery titles could be revealed before the promotion begins.

Current Free Games

For the time being, users can claim The Jackbox Party Pack 4 and The Darkside Detective. With a retail value of $24.99, The Jackbox Party Pack 4 is a set of entertaining party games, while The Darkside Detective, valued at $14.99, provides a solitary gaming experience, blending pop culture and humor into its gameplay.

Upcoming Giveaway Schedule

Typically, the Epic Games Store releases weekly freebies at 11am ET. However, due to the nature of its next giveaway coinciding with the Game Awards, the launch is slated for 5pm PT / 8pm ET, translating to 2am CET on December 12, which happens to be right after the start of the award ceremony.
