NetEase Vows to Replace a No Man's Sky Model in Its Survival MMO, Sean Murray Reacts

Sean Murray comments on the controversy over a model shared between Once Human and No Man's Sky, noting their original asset's flaws.

When a Reddit user pointed out the likeness of an asset in the survival MMO Once Human to a similar element in No Man’s Sky, Hello Games’ head, Sean Murray, found the situation amusing. He commented, “The joke’s on them,” referencing the original asset’s flaws. The asset in question is essentially a large circle adorned with rivets and resembles a teleport module from No Man’s Sky.

After these claims, NetEase stated, “We take this very seriously and want everyone to feel confident in the creative work that goes into the game.” Emphasizing their commitment to originality, they pledged to replace the questioned asset and review their design policies.

Murray also acknowledged the imperfections of their original model, indicating it needs improvements. He humorously noted, “We forgot to LOD those rivets.” If you’re experiencing slowdowns in Once Human due to this asset, it seems the issue is well-documented.
