PlayerUnknown's Next Survival Game Will Not Include Bears But Has Three DLCs Planned
Brendan Greene, known for his previous work as PlayerUnknown, discusses the limitations and future content of his latest survival game, 'Prologue'.
When I first experienced Prologue: Go Wayback! at the start of 2025, I couldn’t help but think, ‘Wouldn’t it be exciting to encounter a bear or two in this wilderness?’ I found the survival mechanics engaging, yet the absence of wildlife felt like a missed opportunity.
Unfortunately, all hopes of being chased by bears were dashed when Brendan Greene, better known as PlayerUnknown, clarified what future content is expected for Prologue.
“The second most requested feature is the inclusion of animals,” Greene stated. “Adding animals means we also need to implement AI for them. While it’s feasible to include them, programming convincing AI requires considerable resources. You want their behavior to feel genuine, especially in the world we’re creating.”
Translation: The addition of wildlife is complex and resource-intensive, which may delay its implementation.
He added, “To make a complete world, we have plans for more engaging locations beyond just cabins and is contemplating the introduction of underground areas.” Greene’s vision is to cultivate a captivating experience that evokes exploration, while ensuring that players are not overwhelmed.
The game has already seen several new features and modes since its early access launch. Greene expressed hopes for extensive engagement in the forthcoming year as well as anticipation for three DLCs that will introduce fresh narrative arcs to the gameplay.
Overall, the development team is focused on enhancing gaming experience before integrating multiplayer options, which fans eagerly await.
