Innovative Speedrunning: Crazy Taxi Meets Live Music

A unique speedrun event featured a live band playing the soundtrack of Crazy Taxi, providing an entertaining twist to the traditional gameplay.

In a remarkable twist to the usual speedrunning events, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) hosted a musical adaptation of the classic game Crazy Taxi. Instead of the traditional gameplay with pre-recorded music that often faces DMCA takedowns, speedrunner Chuckles825 collaborated with a live band named Limiter Cut.

During the event, every time Chuckles825 completed a level, the band seamlessly shifted to the next song, generating an engaging atmosphere for the audience. The original soundtrack features tracks by Bad Religion and The Offspring, making the live performance even more appealing.

This eccentric approach also encouraged a more entertaining style of play, veering away from conventional strategy-focused speedruns. Viewers enjoyed the light-hearted entertainment that accompanied moments of failure, such as when the speedrunner humorously drove a taxi-load of characters into the sea.

AGDQ not only showcased talent but also raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, further enhancing the impact of such gaming events.
