Hideo Kojima has recently announced his foray into voice acting by taking on the role of Officer Paul Moledebrandt in the Japanese version of Zootopia 2. Asked for this position by Jared Bush, the chief creative officer at Disney Animation Studios, Kojima expressed his excitement, stating, “I’ve had many cameo appearances in live-action films and games, but this is my first experience dubbing for an animated theatrical film. And it’s from Disney, of all places!”

The eagerly awaited sequel is set to release in Japanese theaters on December 5, 2025. Kojima’s acceptance of the role was filled with honor, as he noted the significance of being asked directly.

In a light-hearted manner, Kojima humorously reflected, “What’s more, it’s the sequel to my favourite film, Zootopia! On top of that, I received an offer directly from director Jared Bush, so I was extremely honoured and accepted without hesitation.”
