Monster Hunter Producer Highlights Surge of PC Gamers in Japan

Ryozo Tsujimoto discusses the growth of PC gaming and the development of Monster Hunter Wilds with simultaneous platform launch.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto elaborated on Capcom’s nuanced perspective toward PC gamers and shared the challenges faced to launch Monster Hunter Wilds across all platforms along with crossplay capabilities.

“There are more players than ever on PC, including in Japan,” Tsujimoto mentioned, indicating a shift in focus from traditional gaming platforms.

“We definitely see room for the series to capture new players who haven’t tried it before if that’s their chosen platform.”

He expounded on the series’ flexibility, stating, “The choice is yours on which platform you want to play with and then go online and hunt with your friends.”

For the first time, Wilds will feature day-one and crossplay support, underscoring a significant milestone compared to previous entries. Games like Fortnite and Destiny, despite their popularity, wrestled with integrating crossplay functionality across diverse platforms.

Tsujimoto also reflected on earlier experiences with online console gaming and collaborations with handhelds like the PSP, highlighting their vital role in mastering modern networking hurdles.

Despite the potential implications for handheld devices like the Steam Deck, Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on February 28. Prepare for a grand adventure as you delve into the wilds!
