Team Cherry, the minds behind Hollow Knight: Silksong, are hesitant to confirm their attendance at The Game Awards, although their game has been nominated for Game of the Year. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, developer Ari Gibson commented, “It’s on that knife’s edge, where it appeals to some and infuriates others.” They acknowledge the stiff competition from notable titles such as Death Stranding 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Gibson also expressed that they might not attend due to being “pretty busy” and feels confident they won’t need to prepare an acceptance speech. His remark, “I think Expedition 33—it’s exceptional and broadly palatable,” suggest they believe it might take home the prestigious award.
In light of contrasting player reactions to Silksong’s difficulty, it seems Team Cherry is keen to observe the event from the sidelines this year.
