Cyberpunk 2077 Surpasses The Witcher 3's Sales Milestone
CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077 has now become the primary revenue source for the company, outpacing The Witcher 3 in sales within a similar timeframe post-launch.
CD Projekt’s once-troubled Cyberpunk 2077 has now surpassed 35 million copies sold, a remarkable feat for any video game. The game has outpaced The Witcher 3, achieving this milestone faster than its predecessor did after its release.
Nielubowicz stated, “Gamers have now purchased over 35 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077. That’s a better result than The Witcher 3 was able to achieve in the same post-release time frame.”
This increase in sales can be attributed to recent releases on platforms such as the Nintendo Switch 2, Macs, and PlayStation Plus, which contributed to the success of the excellent Phantom Liberty expansion.
Despite Cyberpunk’s success, its journey to this point has been fraught with challenges, from legal actions to a regulatory investigation over its troubled launch, reflecting a significant turnaround for CD Projekt.
