Framework Removes Standalone Memory from Sales to Combat Scalpers and Price Hikes Announced by Cyberpower Amid Ongoing Memory Crisis

Framework's decision to stop selling standalone memory aims to protect its inventory from scalpers, while Cyberpower is set to increase prices on all systems due to surging memory costs.

Framework, recognized for its modular laptops, has made the decision to delist standalone memory modules from its marketplace to prevent scalping. This move comes as the memory supply crisis continues to affect pricing across the board. On another front, Cyberpower, a leading brand in custom gaming setups, has announced plans to raise prices on all systems by December 7, 2025, citing a 500% surge in RAM costs and a 100% increase in SSD prices.

In a statement on X, Framework mentioned:

“The memory market is in a bad spot. We haven’t changed our memory pricing, but we had to delist standalone memory from our Marketplace to head off scalpers and preserve inventory for customers buying our DIY Edition laptops.”

Additionally, Cyberpower noted:

“Recently, global memory (RAM) prices have surged by 500% and SSD prices have risen by 100%, affecting the overall build costs for gaming PCs since October 1, 2025.”

As demand continues to surge, driven largely by the AI boom, manufacturers are facing significant challenges in meeting the needs of consumers. Lenovo claims to have stockpiled enough memory to last through 2026, positioning itself advantageously in a market fraught with shortages. The dynamics of this market are expected to evolve, but deep price volatility is anticipated in the upcoming months.
