Team Cherry Discusses Future of Hollow Knight Franchise

Team Cherry indicates that any future Hollow Knight games would be self-contained experiences, separate from one another.

Team Cherry has stated that should there ever be more Hollow Knight games following Silksong, they would be designed as individual experiences that stand on their own.

This declaration comes from an interview in a paperback guide from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, where co-director Ari Gibson noted that Silksong was intended to complement the original Hollow Knight, and any future titles would follow a similar approach. Gibson mentioned, “I don’t think you’d feel like you lost anything, travelling back to the original game after playing Silksong.” He hopes that future games maintain this self-contained approach, which is consistent with how Silksong began as a DLC but evolved into a full-fledged title.

This conversation sparks excitement for what more Team Cherry might have planned as they move forward.
