Cities: Skylines 2 Receives Major Bicycle Update Before Transition to New Studio
The latest update for Cities: Skylines 2 introduces bicycles and numerous infrastructural enhancements as Colossal Order prepares to hand over development responsibilities.
In the latest development, Cities: Skylines 2 has rolled out an extensive bicycle update, introducing not only bicycles but also electric scooters for gameplay. This update comes as the original developer, Colossal Order, prepares to transfer development tasks to a new studio, Iceflake Studios.
Among the enhancements, players can now establish dedicated bicycle paths and lanes, allowing cyclists to navigate city streets safely. Additionally, the inclusion of various bike parking options is expected to encourage more cycling among citizens.
This bicycle patch also brings new recreational parks themed around cycling to augment the urban infrastructure. It creates a more inviting environment for cycling enthusiasts while providing amenities for bike storage.
The patch is expected to be the last substantial mechanical update initiated by Colossal Order before the handover. After this update, Iceflake Studios is set to announce their roadmap for the game’s future.
While the reasons behind this transition remain unclear, it is notable that Paradox Interactive, the parent company, has a history of reallocating development responsibilities among studios.
