After months of anticipation, Fortnite has officially announced that animal companions will soon be part of the game. In May, leaked information hinted at the addition of a new type of animal companion set to debut in 2025, and that time has finally arrived.

While this isn’t the first instance of animal companions in Fortnite, as Chapter 1 Season 6 introduced Pets that acted like back blings, the Sidekicks that are now coming will function differently.

Fortnite Officially Introduces Sidekicks in Chapter 6 Season 5

The arrival of Sidekicks in Fortnite is scheduled for November 1, 2025. These small animal-like partners will follow players through various game modes, such as Battle Royale and Save the World.

Although Sidekicks will not impact gameplay or be harmed in battles, they will engage with the surroundings and perform special emotes. Players will be able to customize their Sidekick’s appearance just once after purchase, with a preview option before finalizing their choice.

After making this initial customization, players can still modify certain aspects of their Sidekick as they earn Sidekick Points during gameplay—these points serve as a new type of currency for unlocking cosmetics.

The first Sidekick arriving will be Peels, a charming banana-themed dog featuring delightful animations. This debut will be part of the upcoming Chapter 6 Season 5 Battle Pass, with additional Sidekicks like Bonesy and Lil’ Raptor set to follow shortly thereafter. Existing owners of the Bonesy back bling from the earlier Battle Pass will receive the Bonesy Sidekick for free.

The excitement surrounding Fortnite’s upcoming chapter is only heightened by this announcement, particularly with the anticipated crossover featuring The Simpsons.
