YouTube is enhancing its guidelines regarding violent video game content, particularly aimed at new uploads related to Grand Theft Auto 6. The platform will now restrict content showing realistic portrayals of torture or mass violence.
The updated rules reflect concerns that such content could become prevalent with the anticipated stream of GTA 6 videos. In addition to existing restrictions on graphic gaming content, the newer guidelines will assess the duration and focus of the violence depicted, as well as the realism of the characters involved.
Starting November 17, YouTube will apply these new policies, which could retroactively affect existing videos, but such actions will not incur penalties. For more details, check the YouTube support site.
