Halo Creators Condemn Government’s Immigration Metaphor

Co-creators of the Halo video game series, Marcus Lehto and Jaime Griesemer, have openly criticized a recent post by the U.S. government’s Department of Homeland Security. The post used imagery from Halo alongside the phrase “Destroy the Flood,” likening immigrants to the parasitic alien enemies from the game. Lehto expressed his disgust, stating, “It really makes me sick seeing Halo co-opted like this.”

Griesemer added, “Using Halo imagery in a call to ‘destroy’ people because of their immigration status goes way too far and ought to offend every Halo fan, regardless of political orientation. I personally find it despicable. The Flood are evil space zombies and not an allegory for any group of people.”

This incident has sparked a broader conversation about government rhetoric surrounding immigration and how it reflects politically charged narratives.
