Ice-Pick Lodge has announced Darkwood 2, a follow-up to the critically acclaimed top-down survival horror game, during the Xbox Showcase today.
Originally released in 2017, Darkwood gained a reputation for its unsettling atmosphere and unique narrative approach. Although the original developer, Acid Wizard Studio, remains on hiatus, Ice-Pick Lodge, known for their work on the Pathologic series, will take over the development of the sequel. Acid Wizard will still provide consultancy to ensure the sequel retains the essence of the original game.
The new installment is set in the 1990s around the decaying Aral Sea and promises to deliver new lands, creatures, and reasons for players to worry about their survival.
