The Outer Worlds 2's Quirkiest Weapon: A Rhythm-Slicing Rainbow Saber

Discover the unique Spectrum Dance Saber in The Outer Worlds 2, which turns combat into a rhythm game, challenging players to slice in time to the beat.

Slice and dice to the beat.

When you delve into The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll encounter a plethora of eccentric weapons. The latest head-turner is the Spectrum Dance Saber, a weapon that requires players to engage in combat rhythmically. You must strike in time to a vintage tune to maximize its effectiveness.

While this sword may seem like a humorous gimmick, it possesses remarkable power when fully upgraded. Players must embark on a collectible quest to acquire it, costing a hefty 16,500 bits, making it the priciest weapon discovered thus far in the game. Its beneficial effects vary based on the color it displays at the moment of impact. For example, hitting an enemy while the sword glows white freezes them, while a red hue causes an explosive detonation.

How It Works

When you enter combat, a unique interface will pop up, featuring musical cues and color indications. The challenge lies not only in attacking but also in avoiding enemy strikes while maintaining the rhythmic timing needed to charge the sword. Current gameplay mechanics allow players to swing from cover to power up the sword without necessarily landing hits.

After gathering 25 Tossball/Pitchball cards and defeating the spicy Fionna F. Walker at the bazaar, players can unlock this special weapon, turning combat into an entertaining showdown of strategy and timing.

Once the game is released fully, comprehensive guides on unlocking all unique weapons will be published.
