Johan Andersson, lead for the Europa Universalis series, has stated that Paradox’s model for downloadable content has proven to be exceptionally effective, allowing for a variety of player-driven content decisions. In a recent conversation, he praised the flexibility offered by the system, enabling game directors to manage release timing and content scope effectively.

“This system means that you, as a game director in charge of your project, can have complete control over what goes in, the scope, when you can release, and what should be released.”
