Darktide's Narrative Will Get Expanded Through Future Updates: 'We Will Definitely Add to the Story'

Upcoming updates for Darktide will enhance the game's story, introducing more narrative elements over time, confirmed the design director.

Narrative Expansions in Darktide

When Darktide’s Arbites Class DLC was released, it included a free update known as The Battle for Tertium, which finally brought a campaign mode into play. Players now experience missions with tailored voiceovers and cutscenes, moving beyond mere map grinding.

Victor Magnuson, the Design Director, shared insights on future updates, confirming:

“I wouldn’t say it necessarily always will be attached to a new class or anything like that, but each new piece of the game will add to the overarching story of the game.”

Magnuson elaborated on the challenges faced in enhancing the narrative:

“Our goal is to introduce pieces of the narrative progressively, allowing players to piece together the bigger picture gradually. Yes, we are definitely going to be adding to the story of the game.”

Anders De Geer, the Chief Creative Officer, recalled that during a meeting with Games Workshop, the idea of including trains and train-related missions emerged as a fan favorite, showcasing their commitment to creating a unique and engaging world in Darktide.
