Tech Investor Claims AI Games Will Transform the Industry, Shares AI-Generated Clip of Disastrous Shooter

A tech investor showcases a poorly received AI-generated game demo, sparking discussions about the future of AI in gaming.

Recently, investor Matt Shumer took to X to share his vision for AI-driven video games. With enthusiasm, he posted a video claiming:

“AI games are going to be amazing.”

Translation: The potential of AI in gaming is extraordinary.

However, the generated video, intended to be a demonstration of this potential, received immediate backlash. Viewers criticized it for its incoherency, labeling it a chaotic amalgamation of poorly crafted visuals resembling a first-person shooter gone wrong.

Shumer’s company, HyperWrite, is known for innovative AI tools but his demo didn’t showcase the anticipated brilliance. His programming displayed troubling sequences; it showed a character firing wildly, with weapons morphing unpredictably between clips.

Despite the criticism, Shumer defended his work, stating:

“These are not finished products… they’re glimpses of what’s coming.”

Translation: Expectations around AI in gaming are still developing.

While this clip stirred skepticism, it certainly brings attention to the ongoing discussions about the future capabilities of AI in entertainment, leaving many to ponder whether these technologies will yield revolutionary gaming experiences.
