New Borderlands 4 Patch Crashes and Fails, Plus a Halloween Event Less Appealing Than Expected

The latest patch for Borderlands 4 delivers mixed results, with significant changes leading to player dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the nerfed crit knife.

Borderlands 4 has rolled out a substantial patch, but the response from players has been less than positive. Key changes include quality-of-life improvements, such as:

  • Persistent sort filters for inventory instead of reverting to manufacturer settings.
  • Discovered locations now persist when switching between singleplayer and multiplayer modes.
  • The combat radar now highlights legendary loot, albeit with some bugs.

However, these enhancements come with significant drawbacks. Notably, the nerfed critical knife, previously considered overpowered, has created an actual DPS loss for some builds. As one player pointed out, while the new crit knife sets the crit chance at 30%, it does not add that to existing crit chances, leading to confusion.

In terms of events, the Halloween celebration called “Horrors of Kairos” has been criticized for being underwhelming, offering only basic rewards and a boring experience, likened to “receiving a dead rat in a box for Christmas.” Many players are voicing their discontent on forums, echoing that this event lacks the depth and excitement found in previous titles.

Overall, while the patch aims to address certain issues, it simultaneously stumbles into new territory with frustrating outcomes.
