Florida Initiates Criminal Probe into Roblox, Alleges It Facilitated Child Abuse

The Florida Attorney General's office claims that criminal subpoenas are necessary to investigate how Roblox allowed potential abuse of children through its platform.

Roblox faces serious allegations as the Florida Attorney General, James Uthmeier, has announced the commencement of a criminal investigation into the popular gaming platform. The inquiry first reported by WTOC/CNN states that Roblox has allegedly failed to protect minors from predators and inappropriate content. Uthmeier stated, “Today our office will be issuing criminal subpoenas to the online children’s gaming company Roblox, claiming it has profited off our children while exposing them to serious dangers. They enabled abuse towards minors.”

“Companies like Roblox have become breeding grounds for predators to get to and have access to our kids.”
(Translation: Companies like Roblox have turned into places for predators to gain access to our children.)

The investigation arrives after previous lawsuits filed by other states alleging that Roblox allows sexual predators to target children. The platform has denied all claims and continues to assert its commitment to safety practices.
