
Dark Horse Comics and Wizards of the Coast have announced Magic: The Gathering: Untold Stories—Jace, a new comic series centered around one of the franchise’s beloved characters, Jace Beleren.
Previously, Magic: The Gathering has offered fans various comic series that explore its richly woven lore. This upcoming series aims to dive deeper into Jace’s story, promising a captivating narrative according to the creators.
The comic will consist of four issues, with the first installment set to hit the shelves on February 4, 2026. Fans can pre-order Issue #1 at local comic shops today for a price of $4.99. The publisher has also revealed gorgeous cover artwork by Caitlin Yarsky, Francesco Francavilla, and Aleksi Briclot, giving spectators a glimpse into what lies ahead in this new installment.
Magic: The Gathering: Untold Stories—Jace is scripted by Michael W. Conrad, known for his Eisner Award-winning work, and features artwork by Caitlin Yarsky. As little is known about the plot at this moment, it is teased that the series will delve into Jace’s past and forgotten memories, including a plot involving his mentor, Tezzeret, that could influence the Multiverse of Magic: The Gathering significantly.
Michael Conrad shared, “Beyond that, the lore surrounding him has captured my imagination, and has refused to let go.”
While fans await the first issue’s release, it is noteworthy that this will be the second volume in the wider Untold Stories series, following a previous miniseries that focused on the character Elspeth.
In addition to the comic series, other exciting content is on the horizon for the Magic: The Gathering community. This includes a Secret Lair drop inspired by PlayStation characters, scheduled for release on October 27, featuring Ghost of Yotei’s Atsu.
