A Player in Old School RuneScape Attempts to Consume Over 500,000 Trout, Drawing Attention and Donations

An ambitious player in Old School RuneScape is on a mission to eat over 500,000 trout, creating a spectacle and prompting questions about market manipulation.

This eccentric endeavor is set to impact the local trout population.

The Ambition Behind Trout Guy

There’s a player known as Lousifer in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) who has decided to tackle the monumental task of consuming over 500,000 trout. For nearly a week straight, he has attracted a growing crowd of fans eager to donate to his bizarre mission. Reddit user IronWurmple explained that the gathering at Edgeville has reached up to 40 spectators at a time.

The Gathering Crowd

In my own exploration, I created an OSRS account and zoomed over to Edgeville, where I discovered that Lousifer was indeed surrounded by throngs of admirers-

  • whenever he pauses to take a break, there’s a call to eat more.

The Speculation of Market Manipulation

The fervor surrounding the trout consumption has led some players to speculate whether this endeavor is actually a well-crafted scheme to manipulate trout prices in the game. As noted by one player on Reddit, the price surged from 70 to 120 gold per trout before quickly adjusting back down. This raises questions about whether the attention is a clever ruse crafted by Lousifer to benefit financially from the donations.

As the saga unfolds, it remains to be seen whether trout guy is merely a quirky player seeking fun or a savvy strategist manipulating the market for personal gain. Regardless, players have united to support this peculiar challenge, blurring the lines between gameplay and community events.
