There are ongoing concerns surrounding GPU power connectors, particularly the 12V-2x6 model, which continues to prompt issues of overheating and potential failure. The latest development involves Cooler Master suggesting customers modify the design of its angled connector. This recommendation arises amid ongoing fears of these connectors melting during operation, especially in modern high-performance graphics cards.
Cooler Master suggested users could use a small pick or flat screwdriver to alter the connector’s angle to fit better. However, experts express serious concerns that such tampering could worsen the connection and heighten the risk of failure. The suggested solution has proven ineffective, with reports indicating that issues persist despite attempts at modification.
Igor Wallossek from Igor’s Lab confirmed through testing that the proposed fix does not solve the underlying design flaws, which seem to inhibit proper connectivity.
Due to these unresolved problems, the broader gaming community continues to voice frustration about the lack of safety measures in these critical component designs.
