AMD's Rumored Dual V-Cache CPU Gains a New Name and a Fast Single-DIE Variant

The upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 and Ryzen 7 9850X3D processors promise enhanced clock speeds and features.

AMD is rumored to be launching a dual-die Ryzen CPU featuring 3D V-Cache on both core tiles. Recent leaks have provided more details regarding the chip’s name and clock speeds, as well as an enhanced single-die V-Cache variation positioned above the existing Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

According to a leak from Chi11eddog, the new chip will be the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, boasting a 200W power draw and offering 16 cores and 32 threads with a maximum boost clock of 5.6 GHz. This is a slight reduction from the current Ryzen 9 9950X3D’s maximum of 5.7 GHz.

Among the highlights, the Ryzen 9 9850X3D will have an 8-core, 16-thread setup, maxing out at 5.6 GHz as well, which is a notable increase from the 5.2 GHz of the 9800X3D.

Key Specifications

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D2: 200W, 16C32T, 192MB L3 cache, 5.6GHz/4.3GHz.
  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D: 120W, 8C16T, 96MB L3 cache, 5.6GHz/4.7GHz.

This configuration will feature a total of 196 MB L3 Cache, which is expected to substantially enhance performance. However, concerns about the potential price hike due to the dual V-Cache design persist, with estimates suggesting it may retail near $999.

In summary, expectations surrounding these new processors heighten as AMD continues to innovate in CPU technology.
