Popular Twitch creator Emiru has announced that she is following up on a police report and pressing charges against the individual who assaulted her during a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego. Following the unfortunate incident, Emiru is advising other Twitch content creators to be cautious about attending future TwitchCon events.
The assault took place at the San Diego Convention Center on October 17, coinciding with the first day of TwitchCon 2025. Footage shared on social media captured the assailant breaching multiple security barriers to approach Emiru. The man, who remains unidentified, was expelled from Twitch and TwitchCon after Emiru’s management prompted immediate action by the Amazon-owned platform.
In response to the attack, Emiru stated that this would be her last participation at any TwitchCon, urging fellow creators to reconsider attending such events. During a livestream on October 18, she confirmed her decision to proceed with legal actions against her assailant, highlighting a lack of intervention by TwitchCon security during the altercation and expressing her feelings of vulnerability, stating she “could have literally been stabbed.”
Dan Clancy, CEO of Twitch, commented on the situation, emphasizing that the well-being of creators and attendees is a primary concern for the platform. Although he acknowledged the improvements made in security measures, he recognized that challenges remain.
This incident is not the first instance of public harassment that Emiru has faced, as she has previously encountered uncomfortable situations during live events. Emiru has not yet responded to Clancy’s remarks following this incident.
