Rumor Suggests Resident Evil 0 Remake Scheduled for 2028
A new rumor claims that the remake of Resident Evil 0 is set to release in 2028. Capcom has been actively remaking classic titles in the Resident Evil franchise, and it’s becoming more likely that Resident Evil 0 will be included among them.
Originally launched in 2002 on GameCube, Resident Evil 0 serves as a prequel to the series and follows the narrative of Rebecca Chambers and convict Billy Coen—two characters players can switch between at will. Despite its past ports to various platforms, Capcom has yet to confirm the long-anticipated remake.
Multiple Sources Indicate 2028 Release
Even with Capcom’s lack of acknowledgment regarding the remake, various sources suggest that it will debut in 2028. According to Dusk Golem, there will be a Code: Veronica remake in Q1 2027, while Resident Evil 0 will follow in 2028 along with a new main title in 2029. Additionally, MP1ST has corroborated that the remake has been in development under the codename “Chamber.” They also state that Jon McLaren, known for playing Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, may portray Billy Coen.
These rumors align with earlier leaks about the series, revealing that a Resident Evil Zero remake had already been mentioned by Dusk Golem earlier in the year. Notably, the launch sequence appears to have shifted, delaying Resident Evil 0 to 2028 and advancing Code: Veronica’s release to 2027.
Upcoming Excitement
Fans will first have the chance to engage with Resident Evil Requiem, set to launch on February 27, 2026. This game will represent a return to Raccoon City and is highly anticipated among players.
Capcom has disclosed that the next Resident Evil installment will feature Grace Ashcroft as the lead character, emphasizing horror elements in contrast to prior entries. Reports also suggest that Leon S. Kennedy may appear in Resident Evil Requiem, although this remains speculative.
For those eager to explore the franchise’s history, the Resident Evil 0 remake promises to elevate the experience with improved visuals and controls, enticing fans to revisit the origin of the iconic horror series.
