Despite Popularity, Arc Raiders 'Wasn't Ready' for Launch, Claims Design Director

As the release date for the highly awaited extraction shooter approaches, insights reveal crucial bugs and features still needed addressing.

The upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter Arc Raiders is set for its last public playtest this weekend ahead of its launch at the end of October. Despite the positive feedback from the previous April playtest, Virgil Watkins, the design director, revealed that the game was still not ready for release due to significant bugs and outstanding features that needed completion.

“It was intriguing to see how many players wanted us to release it after the playtest. They felt that it was definitely good enough. But making sure we have no major issues is our priority,” stated Watkins.

Watkins emphasized that while players thought the game performed well, they still faced optimization concerns and identified several problematic bugs that needed to be addressed before the official launch.
