The Silent Hill 2 remake has achieved impressive sales figures, surpassing 2.5 million units sold. This accomplishment represents nearly 25% of the franchise’s total sales. Developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami, this remake swiftly joined the ranks of the fastest-selling titles in the franchise’s history.
Despite being quickly outpaced by Silent Hill f, which reached a million sales slightly sooner, both titles rank among the most successful in the series, with Silent Hill 2 continuing to break records almost a year post-launch.
In celebration of this notable achievement, Konami has reported that the entire Silent Hill series has exceeded a cumulative sales total of over ten million copies, with the Silent Hill 2 remake contributing a notable portion.
With Bloober Team currently working on four new projects, including Star Trek: Infection, the studio’s earlier release, Cronos: The New Dawn, has received both commercial success and critical acclaim, being rated as ‘Very Positive’ on Steam.
The remake holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from over 30,000 customer reviews on Steam and has been heralded as one of the finest psychological horror games of the decade. Critics also received it well, with an average score of 87 on OpenCritic, a slight difference from the original game’s rating of 89 from 2001.
Although there is speculation regarding a much-anticipated Silent Hill 2 DLC, no official announcements have been made regarding future expansions. Fans are hopeful that the remake will eventually make its way to platforms like Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, given its strong sales performance thus far.
