Content creator MoistCr1TiKaL, also known as penguinz0, has revealed how much money he’s made during his years on YouTube and Twitch. Many people are aware that making video or livestream content can result in significant earnings for a select group of creators, but exact figures often remain unclear. While some personalities hint at their financial status, few have been as open as MoistCr1TiKaL.
On October 9, he disclosed that he has deactivated nearly all monetization on his channels across both platforms, which includes super chats and donations. Although he couldn’t eliminate the option for viewers to send him bits on Twitch, he raised the minimum amount to a level intended to deter most would-be donors. This choice received mixed feedback—many celebrated it, while a small number of high-earning creators criticized him.
Penguinz0 Reveals His YouTube and Twitch Earnings
MoistCr1TiKaL is known for his direct and candid style, and he defended his choice to demonetize by revealing his substantial earnings as a content creator over the past two decades. In a YouTube video, he indicated that since 2017, when he began serious livestreaming on Twitch, he has accumulated over $5.5 million from ads and subscriptions. His earnings from YouTube are even more impressive. Starting in 2007 under the name penguinz0, he has amassed nearly $36 million in just under 20 years. He clarified that these figures exclude sponsorship deals and other revenue sources connected to his content, although he donated the initial years of his YouTube earnings to charitable causes.
Due to these staggering figures, which MoistCr1TiKaL describes as ‘an unfathomable amount of money,’ he no longer feels comfortable accepting donations. He believes that his role is relatively effortless, and people should prioritize spending their hard-earned money on themselves or charitable organizations instead. He estimates that discontinuing monetization could cost him about $1 million annually, judging by his previous year’s earnings from memberships, super chats, and gifts on YouTube.
Regarding other creators who might feel uncomfortable or pressured by his decision, MoistCr1TiKaL reiterates that he is not making a statement or instigating a movement. He is merely refraining from cashing in from hardworking individuals who likely earn significantly less than he does.
