Cancellations of Pokemon Legends: Z-A Pre-Orders Cause Frustration Among Fans

Some gamers are experiencing unexpected cancellations of their pre-orders for Pokemon Legends: Z-A ahead of its release date.

Some Pokemon Legends: Z-A fans are reporting that their pre-orders have been unexpectedly canceled. As the long-awaited spin-off release nears, excitement has transitioned into frustration for gamers who were anticipating the game. Anyone who pre-ordered this game may want to check their orders to ensure they haven’t been affected.

It has been three years since Pokemon Legends: Arceus hit the shelves and over a year since Game Freak officially announced Legends: Z-A. Numerous leaks have circulated since then, but the release date is set for October 16, 2025. However, some fans might not be able to play as early as they had assumed.

Cancellations at Pokemon Center

On October 14, Reddit user Ok-Salamander-6604 disclosed that both their husband’s and brother’s pre-orders for Pokemon Legends: Z-A through the Pokemon Center were canceled without explanation. While their pre-order for the Switch 2 version remained intact, others reported similar cancellations affecting the Switch 1 version as well. Users speculated that the cancellations may relate to specific pre-order bonuses, particularly those including plush toys, but the actual reasons are still unclear.

Some attempted to reach out to Pokemon Center support for clarification but received little help. A fan mentioned they were informed of payment authorization issues despite their bank showing the amount as processed. There’s a possibility that demand for plush toys exceeded inventory limits. Earlier in 2025, other pre-orders for Pokemon TCG resulted in cancellations due to overwhelming demand, indicating that the Pokemon Center has previously faced similar situations.

Despite these cancellations, some affected gamers have noticed their order statuses still indicate “received,” giving hope that the Pokemon Center may ultimately fulfill the pre-orders once the situation is sorted out. Early reviews for Pokemon Legends: Z-A suggest it may outshine Digimon Story: Time Stranger, indicating that the anticipation for the game is still strong.
