This RTX 5070 Ti with a Hole Keeps Running Thanks to an AMD RX 580

An RTX 5070 Ti with a PCB hole is revived by an AMD RX 580, showcasing innovative repair methods.

When a fellow graphics card suffers in combat, it’s up to the remaining ones to save it. An RTX 5070 Ti arrived at a Brazilian workshop with a hole in its PCB, rendering it unserviceable. How did this damage occur? The details remain unclear, but crucial VRMs were missing, indicating that power could not reach the chip anymore.

However, YouTuber Paulo Gomes decided to intervene by cleverly connecting the VRMs of an AMD Radeon RX 580 donor card to provide the struggling RTX 5070 Ti with power.

And astonishingly, it worked! The AMD card was modified with electrical wires to circumvent the absent VRMs while being mounted alongside its more powerful counterpart. This results in a quirky sight with five cooling fans and dual heatsinks facing each other, making for a rather unusual yet compelling repair.

While further testing is required, it’s curious to see the final outcome once the revived GPU is put under substantial load. Be warned: don’t attempt this at home; leave it to those experienced with electronics.
