Leaks Reveal Procedurally Generated Islands in Upcoming Pokemon Gen 10

New leaks suggest that the upcoming Generation 10 Pokemon games may feature procedurally generated islands, enhancing the gameplay with an infinite world concept.

The upcoming Generation 10 Pokemon games are expected to showcase procedurally generated islands. Recent leaks indicate that these games will build upon concepts explored in earlier iterations of the franchise, particularly during Generation 3.

Details from the Leaks

On October 13, a well-known Twitter user, Centro Leaks, unveiled a variety of new supposed details regarding Game Freak’s upcoming Pokemon titles. These details include reports that the new games, tentatively titled Pokemon Winds and Waves, will incorporate an “infinity” theme and include settings inspired by Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia.

Centro Leaks elaborated on the concept of an infinite region, stating these titles will feature procedurally generated islands, allowing the “region to be technically infinite and dynamic.” Additionally, it has been mentioned that evolution mechanics may also reflect similar concepts, allowing Basic Pokemon to evolve into forms with “infinite variations.”

A Return to Randomized Islands

The idea of having randomized considerations isn’t entirely new to the Pokemon series. Previous games like Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald featured Mirage Island, which had a static layout determined by random numbers. The remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, replaced this feature with Mirage Spots that offered more layout variations.

While Centro Leaks has established themselves as a credible source for information, it is always conceivable that development plans may shift.

Though Game Freak has typically adhered to a three-year cycle for main entries, the pattern seems to be changing as no new mainline titles have been announced in conjunction with the third anniversary of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet this upcoming November. Spin-offs like Pokemon Legends: Z-A are scheduled to debut on October 16, but mainline developments are not anticipated before late 2026, with potential announcements on Pokemon Day, February 27.
