It’s been six years since ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove brought back the beloved alien duo, and fans are keen to know about their next adventure. Co-creator Greg Johnson recently addressed this during a Reddit AMA, confirming that they are in the planning stages for a new game. He stated:

“I can say that a new game is in the planning stage. We intend to make it happen.”

This new installment will bring together features from the first two games while also exploring some ideas from the original game that never reached fruition. Unlike the previous title, this new adventure won’t be developed by Johnson’s HumaNature Studios, though several contributors from that project will be part of the new game.

Johnson also unveiled updates regarding a potential ToeJam and Earl film, which is being developed by Amazon Studios. He mentioned that the project is still in search of a director and remains uncertain whether it will be animated or a mix, similar to the Sonic movie:

“I’ve read the script, and really it could be either all animated or it could be a mix… I’m as curious as you are as to what they will do.”
