It seems that a sequel to Aliens: Fireteam Elite is in the works, and it could surprise fans with a release before the year’s end. Even though no official announcement has been made, a page from the ESRB (the entertainment ratings organization in the U.S.) briefly appeared, indicating that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is in the pipeline.
As first observed by Gematsu (via PCGamesN), the listing for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 included a “Mature” rating due to “Blood and Gore, Strong Language and Violence”—indicative of its franchise background.
This page also pointed out that Daybreak Games Company, not Focus Entertainment, would be publishing the sequel. The upcoming game is supposed to be available on PC, as well as various PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Given that games frequently receive ratings as they approach release, this signals that a surprise launch for Fireteam Elite 2 could be on the horizon.
While this could potentially turn out to be an error, the information aligns with earlier rumors about the sequel. It also resonates with statements from Cold Iron Studios, which has previously mentioned that they are working on something new, aiming to expand on the success of Aliens: Fireteam Elite.
In October 2023, the studio noted it is “in full development on a new title,” without confirming whether it would indeed serve as a direct sequel.

Recent leaks suggested that this new installment, dubbed Project Macondo, would introduce a fresh story campaign featuring new levels with “alternate paths” and more intelligent adversaries from the famed series.
It has also been mentioned that Daybreak, which took over as the publisher, anticipates releasing this title within 2025.
