Atlus and Studio Zero have announced the upcoming Guidebook Edition of Metaphor: ReFantazio, set to launch in early 2026. The original game received widespread acclaim in 2024, even earning a Game of the Year nomination. This new release will include various extras that fans will surely appreciate.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

On its debut, Metaphor: ReFantazio sold a million copies, currently holding an average score of 93 on OpenCritic. Known as the ‘fantasy Persona’, it has been lauded for its worldbuilding and relevance to social issues, confronting themes such as discrimination and racism. Recently, Atlus hinted at potential news regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, sparking excitement among fans who now have a new edition to look forward to next year.

Guidebook Edition Details

To commemorate its first anniversary, Atlus hosted a livestream event on October 10, unveiling the Guidebook Edition scheduled for release in early 2026. This digital bundle will encompass the base game, a digital art book, soundtrack, the Essential Digital Strategy Guide, and two DLC costume sets inspired by Shin Megami Tensei 5 and Persona 5. The Essential Digital Strategy Guide, a walkthrough of the game’s first arc, is included for free for those who purchased the Atlus 35th Digital Anniversary edition.

Despite the excitement over this new edition, fans expressed disappointment during the livestream as no confirmation was given regarding the rumored Switch 2 port for Metaphor: ReFantazio. Members of the community had anticipated the announcement, yet Atlus confirmed that only Persona 3 Reload would be making the switch.

Given the game’s exceptional performance and positive reception, it’s no wonder Atlus is contemplating a sequel. A recent survey revealed that players showed interest in a follow-up, and the game’s director has hopes to develop Metaphor: ReFantazio into a series someday.
