Accidental Free-Play Release for Popular Co-op Game

Pico Park becomes free-to-play after a monetization mishap by its developer TecoPark.

Accidental Release of Pico Park

Pico Park is a beloved co-op platformer that has entertained players for a decade. However, due to a mistake by TecoPark, the game has recently been made permanently free-to-play. In a Steam blog post, the developer shared:

“I was planning to switch to a paid plan after updating the online support, but I forgot that once you switch from paid to free, I can never go back to paid.”
Translation: “I intended to revert to a paid model but mistakenly left it free, and now it stays that way forever.”

This blunder occurred as they updated the classic edition for the first time in nine years. Players are encouraged to enjoy this version, as future installments like Pico Park 2 remain available for purchase at $9 (£7.49) each. TecoPark concluded this announcement by inviting players to experience their updated games while the classic edition is temporarily free.
